Think Safe. Work Safe. Be Safe. October is an important time to commit to building a safe and healthy workplace by raising awareness of workplace health and safety issues and making changes to improve the safety of all workplace participants and working towards reduction of overall injuries. The theme for this year is Think Safe, Work Safe and Be Safe.

Think Safe.

“Think Safe is the first step to thinking about work health and safety, which covers the planning and forethought that Person Conducting a Business Undertaking (PCBUs) such as employers must identify the risks and maintain healthy and safe workplaces.”

Work Safe.

“Work Safe is about implementing work health and safety measures to manage risks including the practical steps you can take to reduce risk and avoid workplace incidents.”

Be Safe.

“Be Safe is an ongoing process of managing and monitoring work health and safety risks –It is not a one off. ”

The September Safety Bulletin focuses on self care month and fatigue management.

Self-Care Month Strategies

The physical self-care strategies include:
• Develop a regular sleep routine.
• Aim for a healthy diet.
• Take regular exercise.

Self-care refers to activities undertaken with the intention of enhancing energy, restoring health, and reducing stress. There are so many benefits to self-care, including having a greater capacity to manage stress, increased resilience and having reduced symptoms of mental health issues.
